Ammonium p-toluenesulfonic acid, 25 g

Ammonium p-toluenesulfonic acid is used as a standard for checking the accuracy and digestion recovery in Total Nitrogen (TN) and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) determinations in wastewater and other applications.

TN recovers organic nitrogen, ammonia (NH₃) and ammonium (NH₄+) plus amines, nitro compounds (including nitrate (NO₃-) and nitrite (NO₂-), hydrazones, oximes, semicarbazones and some refractory tertiary amines.

TKN (Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen) analysis determines the content of both organic and inorganic forms of nitrogen in the respective samples and is applicable to a broad variety of Applications.
It is the sum of organic nitrogen, ammonia (NH₃) and ammonium (NH₄+). It is a common test for wastewater, but can be used in other applications.

For example crude protein content is calculated directly from the nitrogen present in the sample, by determining the Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN)

Ammonium p-toluenesulfonic acid is used as a protein-TKN standard: 7.402% N, 46.26% crude protein.

Provided in a 25 g bottle. Alternatively 2277800 is a complete set of all three nitrogen digestion standards with increasing resistance to digestion.
