The BW700 Ballast Water Validation Kit combines three handheld tools for Ship Operators, Port State Control, and Flag State Agents to quickly and easily assess the risk that a ship's ballast water is in gross non-compliance of the IMO ballast water discharge standards. The kit includes a Hach BW680 Handheld Fluorometer which allows a user to quickly and easily determine if a system is in gross non-compliance of the D2 standard, a Hach DR300 which provides a simple solution to test total residual oxidant (TRO) levels in ballast water systems that use chlorine or ozone to treat ballast water, and a refractometer that satisfies the testing protocol for the IMO D-1 standard.
The BW680 handheld fluorometer allows ship owners and regulators to quickly and easily determine if there is a risk that ballast water will not comply with IMO discharge standards. The fluorometer measures the presence of active chlorophyll in living systems, e.g. phytoplankton using variable fluorescence, and provides a rapid, indicative assessment of the risk that the ballast water is in gross non-compliance to the IMO D-2 ballast water standard.
Hach’s new, rugged colorimeter tests for TRO in less than 3 minutes, providing confidence in treatment system dosing and measurement of TRO discharge levels. The DR300 has upgraded waterproofing, a larger display, and ergonomic design.
• Battery operation for a maximum of 5000 tests
• Waterproof instrument IP67 (even better than PCII)
• Larger, better display
• Data connectivity. Bluetooth to Claros*
* Bluetooth connectivity currently available only in US, Canada and EU.
Durable refractometer provides a simple test to confirm ballast water exchange occurred per the IMO D-1 discharge standard.
All instruments fit in a compact backpack that can be easily carried to the sampling port or stored on ship for use when needed. For Port State Control, the backpack provides extra space for carrying equipment such as ear and eye protection, data notebooks and more.
