Thymol Blue Indicator Solution in a 100 mL Marked Dropping Bottle offers a reliable colorimetric method for determining pH levels across a broad range. This indicator transitions from red to yellow in acidic conditions (pH 1.2 to 2.8) and from yellow to blue in basic environments (pH 8.0 to 9.6). Product number 147009 covers a range of 7.4 to 9.6.
Thymol Blue is essential for water quality testing, helping to monitor pH levels in various water sources, which is crucial for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring safe conditions for aquatic life. In classrooms, Thymol Blue is perfect for demonstrating pH changes, making it easier for students to understand acids, bases, and chemical reactions through its vivid color shifts.
This indicator is used in products 147009 and 2350700, with a color wheel test covering a pH range of 7.4 to 9.6. More than 1 mg/L of chlorine can interfere with the test. To remove chlorine, add 1 drop of 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution (product number 2700832) to 25 mL of sample and mix. This procedure will remove up to 10 mg/L of chlorine. Use a colorless pH 7 buffer (product number 1222249) as a check standard in this method.
Thymol Blue is a versatile tool for both environmental and educational purposes, making it a valuable addition to any laboratory or classroom. Enhance your laboratory or classroom with the Thymol Blue Indicator Solution, a must-have for accurate and vivid pH testing.
